Painted fabrics from a workshop I taught were the starting point for this piece. I challenged my students (and myself ) to make an abstract quilt using the fabrics we created in the class. I based my composition on a small sketch that included many curving lines which I translated into the quilting lines.
Techniques: Fused appliqué, machine satin stitch, painting, machine quilting with decorative stitches, beading.
Materials: Hand-dyed, painted and commercial fabrics, polyester threads, beads.
